Virtual Race Facts and Information

What is a Virtual Race?

A virtual race is a race that can be run in any location. You can walk, use the treadmill, run outside or participate in another race. You can run your race at your pace whenever you like.
A virtual race can be done at any venue that you wish. You can walk, jog, skip or run the distance of your choice. (either 1 mile or a 5K) You can complete your race at the gym on a treadmill, a practice run in town, a stroll in the park, or another racing event. The RDH12 Fund for Sight and Finley's Fighters believe in the honor system, but we need an email from you with your time and - if you could - an uploaded picture. You can tell us about your experience on our Facebook page as well. Once you email us your time, you will be mailed a finisher's medal (and a t-shirt if you requested one).
You will send your results and picture to rdh12@rdh12.org, or you can post it on our Facebook page.

What are the two races you offer?

You can either do a 1 mile or a 5K. You don't have to run - you can walk, hike, use your treadmill. Your choice. When you sign up, chose for the race you want to participate in.

What is the cost?

The cost is $20/person if you want both the finisher's medal and a race day t-shirt.
The cost is $15/person if you want just the finisher's medal.

What is the timeline?

You can do your race anytime from May 1, 2015 to June 7, 2015. The person who turns in the best time over that period will get a trophy. Everyone will get a finishers medal no matter what their time is.

Why should you do a Virtual Race?

Well, the short answer is because you cannot make it to Finley's event or you cannot run that day. But also:
You get a really cool finisher's medal (and a t-shirt if you requested one)
You have complete control over your schedule and time you run this race.
An opportunity to support an amazing cause. Even if you cannot be with us the day of the event doesn't mean we don't need you. We cannot get that cure without your help.

Who can participate?

Everybody and anybody. There is no age limit and there are no restrictions. So run, jog, walk, crawl, run alone, run in a group, run with your pet, hike, it doesn't matter. Just get out there and get moving. So yes - I expect kids to participate in this as well.

Does it matter if I live in the United States?

NO! Not at all - we will be happy to mail the bling to anywhere in the country. So don't let that stop you.

When will I receive my bling and what is it?

You will receive it within 30 days of your completion of your race. The finisher's medal will be a hand carved wooden medal with ribbon that has the word "strength" in braille. The t-shirt will have a custom design on the front that is unique to this year's race.
